VIDEO: Age is ‘not necessarily a factor’ for meniscus, ACL repair candidates
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Jack M. Bert, MD, discussed repairing, retaining or resecting the meniscus and deciding on surgery in older patients with meniscal and ACL tears.
“Everyone is repairing menisci [in] later and older age groups. Even posterior horn root tears are being repaired in patients in their 60s, and even in patients who are extremely active,” he said. “Remember, age is not necessarily a factor – depending on the activity level of a patient – with respect to meniscus repair, as well as ACL repair.”
