Through a standard deltopectoral incision, John P. Ross, MD, and Mark A. Mighell, MD, perform total shoulder arthroplasty with a windowed technique.
They expose the rotator interval and anterior superior quadrant and release the pectoralis major tendon to access and remove a humeral osteophyte in the patient’s shoulder.
Other steps shown include use of an intramedullary-referenced cutting guide prior to cutting the humeral head, glenoid reaming prior to keel preparation and placing sutures to bring together and close the borders of the rotator interval at the end of the procedure.
