The Arthroscopy Association of North America announced it will be canceling their annual meeting scheduled for May 7-9, 2020, in Grapevine, Texas, due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.

According to a press release, AANA gave great consideration to the health of the AANA staff, partners, volunteers and members and their patients before making the decision to cancel. The released noted the evolving situation around COVID-19 was discussed and all possible options explored among the AANA staff and executive committee regularly, with the decision to exercise extreme caution and cancel the meeting agreed upon with guidance from the CDC and state departments.

“We want to thank the faculty that were prepared to deliver valuable content and research, a hallmark of the AANA Annual Meeting that has made it such an important meeting for orthopedic surgeons from across the globe,” Larry D. Field, MD, president of AANA, said in the statement. “Thank you to our corporate partners and exhibitors, whose presence enhances out meeting and supports the organization as it advances the scope of orthopedic surgery.”
