VIDEO: Patients did not need all opioids prescribed after outpatient foot and ankle surgery

CHICAGO — At the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting, Zackary P. Burrow, MD and Amgad M. Haleem, MD, PhD, spoke about a study that looked at patient-reported opioid consumption after outpatient foot and ankle surgery. They found they were prescribing patients more opioids than they needed. Patients did not need about one-third of opioids they were prescribed.
