Hospital for Special Surgery named top orthopedic hospital by US News & World Report
For 10 years in a row, Hospital for Special Surgery has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the top-ranked hospital in the country for orthopedics.
“[Hospital for Special Surgery] HSS has been focused on advancing orthopedics for 156 years, and we take great pride in all evidence of the results of that including this milestone recognition,” Louis A. Shapiro, president and CEO of HSS, said in a release from HSS. “Most important is that hundreds of thousands of lives have been improved, and countless injuries prevented, through the extraordinary dedication and collaboration of HSS physicians, scientists, engineers, innovators and specialists in dozens of supporting functions.”
According to a press release from U.S. News & World Report, there were approximately 165 hospitals nationally ranked in at least one specialty for the 2019 to 2020 year. Overall, U.S. News & World Report compared more than 4,500 medical centers across the country in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The publication also ranked 569 of the best regional hospitals in metropolitan areas and states according to performance in complex and common care.
