Exactech announced it has acquired Epic Extremity, a screw and plating company, after distributing the Epic Extremity Foot and Ankle Reconstruction System for the past year.
“At the core of Epic Extremity was a desire to provide surgeons with implant systems that offer quality patient care and service in an efficient and cost-effective manner,” Dan Schwartzbauer, founder and president of Epic Extremity, said in a company press release. “With Exactech’s acquisition, we feel confident that we can accomplish this mission even further, and we look forward to seeing its growth and even more patients being served.”
The release noted the Epic Extremity Foot and Ankle Reconstruction System addresses great toe arthritis, fractures, hallux valgus deformities and midfoot/flatfoot injuries in a customizable, modular tray that is specific to disease states. Small staples, snap-off screws and cannulated, titanium screws included with the modules come in multiple diameters and headed and headless options, according to the release, and include a separate fusion plating system for ankle arthrodesis.
“We are thrilled to complete this acquisition to continue the relationship and our commitment to the foot and ankle market,” Darin Johnson, senior vice president of extremity marketing at Exactech, said in the release. “We are excited to combine these products with the Vantage Total Ankle System to provide an expanded line of solutions.”
