WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — At Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Christopher S. Ahmad, MD, spoke about the management of bony Bankart lesions. He said that bony Bankart lesions are related to bone deficiency in the shoulder that can cause failure rates if addressed arthroscopically. However, the bony Bankart lesion is different than glenoid wear or loss because the bony Bankart case can be repaired and can restore the bone and normal bone anatomy to the glenoid.

“When taking care of athletes with shoulder instability, consider that bony Bankarts do happen with increased frequency, that we do have arthroscopic techniques to correct the bony Bankart and these results can be very successful,” he said.
