Shoulder Club International is an international group is focused on education in shoulder and sports. It includes several shoulder experts from around the world, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Korea, Italy, France and Turkey. The group is open to novice and experienced shoulder surgeons alike.

The goal of the Shoulder Club International (SCI) is to organize annual educational activities such as syposiums and cadaver labs with high scientific-level collaboration together with European School for Training in Orthopaedics (ESTRO). In recognition of these efforts, the organization has received recognition of the quality and depth of the educational programs from The European Orthopaedics and Traumatology Education Platform (EOTEP) of EFORT in the form of accreditation.

The SCI is proud to announce the 3rd Shoulder Club International Cadaver and Simulation Course, which will be held from 16 to 17 February 2019, in Ankara, Turkey.

The course consists of case-based lectures, discussions, simulator education and cadaver labs. The course will be focused on treatment of shoulder pathologies integrating educational with motor skill aspects from experts and covering topics such as:

  • shoulder instability;
  • rotator cuff problems;
  • shoulder arthroplasty; and
  • shoulder trauma.

The third SCI course will highlight the most recent developments in each topic, promoting a strong interaction between experienced trainers working with trainees in decision-making, but also in different surgical techniques. There will be an outstanding national and international faculty including Edward G. McFaland (USA), Nikolas Garbis (USA), Giulio Maria Marcheggiani Muccioli (Italy), Filippo Familiari (Italy), Anouk Giesberts (Netherlands) and Bujar Shabani (Kosovo).

The official language will be English, and all the trainees will have a chance to perform or assist the surgical procedures on their own and with commentary by the experts during the procedures. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to perform arthroscopy simulation for specific cases in shoulder. More information can be found at www.efort.org/eotep-se and www.shoulderclub.com.

Finally, we would like to extend our deep appreciation to the division of shoulder surgery at The Johns Hopkins University, The Turkish Shoulder and Elbow Society and EFORT for the generous academic support to the course. Looking forward to meeting in Ankara.
