At the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons Annual Meeting, DJO Global announced the addition of the Empowr porous knee system and Empowr complex primary knee system to its Empowr knee platform.

According to a company press release, the Empowr knee platform provides primary, cementless primary, complex primary and tibial revision solutions. The Empowr porous knee system is based on highly porous materials that reportedly enhance early implant fixation and create an ideal environment for immediate and long-term biologic fixation. DJO’s highly porous coating, P², helps in bone apposition for “superior in-growth performance,” the release noted. The bladed keel of the baseplate reportedly provides robust fixation. Cruciform pegs offer initial component fixation and durable rotational stability.

With the addition of the Empowr complex primary knee system, which includes the Empowr universal tibial baseplate and the Empowr varus valgus constraint tibial insert, the Empowr knee platform provides a range of solutions for complex primary and revision knee arthroplasty. The implants were created to offer efficient transition from a standard primary to revision knee procedure, with minimal additional instruments and trays.

“DJO Surgical’ s strong growth over the past few years is a reflection of our commitment to developing products and solutions that help improve clinical outcomes and enhance patient experience,” Jeffery A. McCaulley, global president of DJO Surgical, said in the release. “Our continued expansion of the Empowr platform reflects the overwhelmingly positive reaction we’ve received from surgeons and patients since the first Empowr knee system was launched here at AAHKS in 2015.”
