New NASS president plans more modern annual meeting, greater global focus

“NASS plays an important role in advocacy, education and research, and I am honored to be leading such a vital organization for spine care professionals,” Wang said in a NASS press release. “NASS members can expect some exciting changes, including a re-envisioned annual meeting that will offer relevant, highly topical and comprehensive education for each participant.”

Wang, who is co-director of the University of Southern California Spine Center, told Healio.com/Orthopedics, “I do want to make sure the members, the public, industry, everyone involved in the spine industry or practitioners understand what NASS does.”

In particular, he said, he will strive for “more transparency on what NASS is actually doing for its members.”

Furthermore, Wang said he intends to engage international members of NASS by expanding the education and evidence-based initiatives of the organization. A first step, he told Healio.com/Orthopedics, is making endeavors of the society more relevant and interesting to its members.
