Shukla Medical announced the upgrade of the Xtract-All Spine universal implant removal system.

“The system includes over 115 unique drivers and more than 40 implant-specific drivers,” Nitin Chawla, product manager for Shukla Medical, said in a press release.

According to the release, cases for cervical and thoracolumbar revisions are separately available and can be purchased for complete Xtract-All Spine revision capabilities. In addition to standard hex, torx and cruciform drivers, there are over 40 propriety implant configurations.

The instrumentation case includes a helicopter socket that allows difficult screw constructs to be removed while still attached to the spinal rod. The surgeon can use the socket to apply reverse torsion to the configuration until the screw backs out of the bone. The case also includes tools for many revision methods such as ratcheting handles, extension, wrenches, a power adapter, rod grippers and pliers.

In addition to the purchase of the spine implant removal system, hospitals will have access to the X-ray App where compatibility identification is easy, and users can determine all compatible Xtract-All tools and related surgical techniques, X-rays and videos needed. The app can also be used for intramedullary nail implant systems.
