Visiting fellowship programs allow young orthopaedic and trauma surgeons to spend a time in a pre-defined institution in one country. The visiting fellowships, among others, are a great way to gain new experiences, spread new ideas and introduce yourself to the local culture of the host country. In addition, these provide a platform to develop better links between orthopaedic & trauma surgeons.
Eligibility
The eligibility for EFORT Visiting Fellowships include:
- orthopaedic/trauma specialist according to your country’s national regulations;
- younger than 45-years-old;
- want to improve your skills in orthopaedics and traumatology;
- looking for a platform to develop better links between the orthopaedic community; and
- have not received an EFORT Foundation Visiting Fellowship grant for the last 2 years.
Requirements
To submit your application via our application platform, the following documents need to be submitted together with the completed application:
- copy of your MD license;
- copy of your license as an orthopaedic specialist or a copy of your residency registration certificate; and
- two recent letters of recommendation issued within last 12 months.
Funding
Each fellow who has been accepted in our visiting fellowship program to visit one pre-defined and approved institution, a host center as we call them, will receive a grant. The objective of each grant is to cover a major part of the fellow’s travel and living expenses concerning the fellowship visit. The grant amount is EUR 2,000/month/fellow. As every country has different regulations concerning visiting fellows, EFORT is unable to take responsibility for any paperwork requested by local/national authorities and/or host center.
N.B. Obtaining a visa and necessary insurances, for instance, are the responsibility of the fellow.
