Arthrex announced the addition of Laurence Higgins, MD, to its leadership team as the new vice president of strategic development.

Higgins will oversee global corporate strategic development and clinical and outcomes research and the acquisitions and HCP administration relations. Currently, he is the chief of the Brigham & Women’s Hospital Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service in the department of orthopedic surgery in Boston.

According to a press release, Higgins has been an author of more than 175 peer reviewed publications and chapters and led clinical studies. His focus has recently been on cost effectiveness, process improvement and bundled payment strategies. In May, Higgins will relocate to Naples, Fla., Arthrex’s global headquarters.
