VIDEO: Poor outcomes in patients with acute, traumatic wound dehiscence who undergo TKA

NEW ORLEANS At the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, Robert A. Sershon, MD, spoke about a study which looked at acute, traumatic, wound dehiscence in patients who underwent primary or revision total knee arthroplasty.

“So, what we found was that these patients surprisingly do not do very well following a traumatic wound dehiscence,” he said. “We had a 43% failure rate and I think most surprising of all that is 50% of failures were secondary to instability not infection.”
