KOLOA, Hawaii – At Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2018, Louis F. McIntyre, MD, and William R. Beach, MD, provided ideas on how to improve shoulder coding procedures for 2018.
“Getting paid for what we do is getting increasingly difficult,” Beach said.
Among the tips they discussed are to do coding yourself during dictation; understand the modifiers; review the explanation of benefits statements to make sure payment is made at correct rates and establish an appeal process. They also discussed using technology to improve practice collections and patient outcomes data.
