Smith & Nephew completes acquisition of Rotation Medical

Smith & Nephew announced it has completed acquisition of Rotation Medical Inc.

According to a company press release, the acquisition cost $125 million and, depending on financial performance, could cost up to $85 million more during the next 5 years.

The portfolio includes the Rotation Medical Rotator Cuff System, which reportedly balances biomechanics and biology to enhance the body’s natural healing process. The bioinductive implant allows tendons to heal by prompting growth of new tendon-like tissue, which could prevent tear progression and reduce the incidence of retear.

The rotator cuff system will be sold through Smith & Nephew’s sports medicine sales force and Rotation Medical’s sales team.
