Paragon 28 announced the launch of the JAWS nitinol staple system for osteotomy, arthrodesis and fragment fixation of the foot, according to a company press release.

To gain rigid compression across the osteotomy site, the nitinol staple system utilizes super-elastic nitinol and a simple insertion method. With a titanium inserter, the JAWS system offers surgeons the chance to seat the staple prior to releasing it from the inserter, which allows for final staple placement before it compresses the osteotomy site.

Plantar gapping is eliminated and there is consistent force across the osteotomy site due to the shape, angulation and size of the staple legs which distribute compression equally along the length of the staple legs. The nitinol staple system reportedly comes pre-loaded on the inserter, which aids in a quick and straightforward procedure.
