United Orthopedic Corporation receives FDA clearance for knee insert

United Orthopedic Corporation announced it has received FDA clearance for its E-XPE polyethylene knee insert, which is designed to reduce the risk of oxidation, according to a company press release.

According to the release, the highly crosslinked polyethylene insert is combined with 0.1% vitamin E to enhance wear resistance without affecting oxidative stability and mechanical properties.

“Clearance of our E-XPE polyethylene knee insert represents an important milestone in our knee portfolio,” Calvin Lin, president of United Orthopedic Corporation USA, said in the release. “Oxidation continues to be a concern for surgeons. The E-XPE polyethylene is resistant to oxidation and performs extremely well with respect to abrasive wear resistance.”
