VIDEO: Malchau discusses impact of arthroplasty registries
SAN DIEGO — Henrik Malchau, MD, PhD, spoke about his Kappa Delta Award, which is given to pioneers who develop regional or national registries, capture information, use the information and send it back to users. He discussed the Mayo Clinic Total Joint Registry, Harris Joint Registry, the Swedish Knee Arthroplasty Registry and the Swedish Hip Arthroplasty Registry and impact of these registries on orthopedics during the course of 5 decades.
He said new implant technology should be included within the national registries to give a complete follow-up and more valid results from orthopedic surgeons.
