SAN DIEGO — At the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, Leesa M. Galatz, MD, discussed various nonoperative treatments suggested for lateral epicondylitis and noted that surgery is usually indicated when nonoperative treatment fails.

She also spoke about a study that compared excision of affected tendon material to a placebo surgery. The study showed no additional benefit with the excision.
