K2M announced its new Balance Axial Coronal Sagittal platform and debuted it at three leading spine meetings in March 2017.
According to a company press release, the Balance Axial Coronal Sagittal (BACS) platform is a comprehensive platform that applies 3-D solution across the clinical care continuum to help drive quality outcomes for spine patients. The platform reportedly provides solutions focused on balance of the spine by addressing each anatomical vertebral segment with a 360° approach of the axial, coronal and sagittal planes and emphasizes total body balance as an important component of surgical success.
K2M also announced the launch of a BACS app, which serves as a portal for surgeons to access the BACS system. The app includes an insurance documentation tool, a surgical image measuring technology to assist surgical planning, anatomical models, and a data collection and operative reporting system. The BACS system and app were showcased at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, and the British Association of Spine Surgeons.
“K2M is excited to introduce the BACS platform of three-dimensional solutions and host educational workshops at leading spine conferences in the United States and internationally,” Eric Major, president and chief executive officer of K2M, said in the release. “Our experience developing complex spine innovations and advancements in 3D solutions has led us to a comprehensive, next-generation BACS platform to help surgeons achieve quality outcomes and total body balance for their patients.”
