SAN DIEGO — At the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, Freddie H. Fu, MD, DSc(Hon), DPs(Hon), discussed a study on the anterolateral capsule of the knee and its functions as a sheet of tissue based on tissue strain. He said results showed the anterolateral capsule’s strain direction was all over the place like a sheet of fibrous tissue, not like that of a ligament. Fu said surgeons need to be aware the anterolateral capsule it is not a single structure, but rather multiple structures.
