SAN DIEGO —  At the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, Amy S. Wasterlain, MD, discussed perioperative smoking cessation programs for patients who underwent total joint arthroplasty and whether it helped patients quit smoking and also improve their outcomes. She said the program did help patients quit smoking and those patients who quit smoking had better surgical outcomes
