VIDEO: Konda discusses novel risk, cost prediction tool used after orthopedic trauma
SAN DIEGO — Sanjit R. Konda, MD, spoke about a novel risk prediction and cost prediction tool that can be used to group patients according to inpatient risk mortality and cost profile before hospital admission. He said with this data it is now possible to predict the cost of a patient’s hospitalization, complication risk, readmission rate, length of stay and different cost markers during the patient’s hospital stay.
Konda noted the tool will be particularly valuable for hospitals with the increase in the geriatric population who will have more and more fractures. The tool will be able to determine the cost and risk before hospitalization so hospitals can then funnel patients through specific, targeted pathways and provide them with personalized medicine.
