Medacta hires new spine division medical director

Medacta International announced that it has hired S. Raymond Golish, MD, PhD, MBA, to serve as the medical director of the Medacta USA Spine Division.

According to a company press release, Golish is a noted spinal surgeon and data scientist and is an experienced health care administrator and executive. He currently holds the position of medical director of spinal survey and director of clinical trials at Jupiter Medical Center, and practices spinal surgery at Florida Spine Center. He is also chairman of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons’ Biomedical Engineering Committee, as well as chairman and director of the board for the research committee of the North American Spine Foundation.

The release about the appointment of Golish also noted that Medacta’s Spine Division launched three new products in 2016 and the division experienced more than 140% sales growth, as well as an 105% increase in its customer base. The last 5 consecutive quarters have boasted 24% quarter-over-quarter growth.

“With his diverse experience as a surgeon, medical data scientist and expert in U.S. regulatory affairs, Dr. Golish will be an important addition to the Medacta spine team as it continues to introduce methodical, thoughtful and evidence-based innovations,” Francesco Siccardi, executive vice president of Medacta International, said in the release. “His steadfast dedication to patient safety and the role that medical device innovation can play in improving life aligns well with our ideals at Medacta, and we are thrilled to have him on board as we look to meet our ambitious growth targets in the year ahead.”
