Many factors influence an individual’s decision to attend any given scientific meeting or educational event. One key consideration is inevitably the quality and relevance of the scientific program, which is usually reflected by accrediting bodies that allocate, amongst other things, CME credits to congresses that apply for them. A different and unrelated way delegates may judge the likelihood that a particular meeting will be relevant and provide them with practical benefits for professional development is the level and diversity of the industries that participate in the meeting’s exhibition hall. Companies typically attend to present and demonstrate to qualified health care professionals their latest products, techniques and services.
The industry interactions at meetings are monitored and regulated to ensure these occur in a way that is fully compliant with regulations.
Historically, in the orthopaedic and trauma field, the EFORT Annual Congress is fortunate to have benefited from both these key indicators of a high-quality scientific meeting. EFORT realizes such an environment nurtures exchange, learning and education, and it ultimately benefits the patient. Note that for the 2017 Congress in Vienna, EFORT will shortly apply for CME accreditation.
Independent from the scientific program, industry participation in the congress is facilitated by a series of rigorous external and internal steps that ensures there is full compliance. It is in the interest of all parties to ensure the EFORT Annual Congress respects, fulfills and delivers all interactions between health care professionals and industries in a fully compliant manner.
We are pleased to announce the 18th EFORT Annual Congress which is scheduled to take place in Vienna from 31 May to 2 June 2017 has already been granted full compliance status by EUCOMED. This status acts as a seal of approval, meaning health care professionals and industry partners alike may participate in the congress knowing that their interactions will be professional, educational and compliant.
If you are not already planning to participate in the congress, consider the educational and learning benefits of doing so. Many advantages can result from the 2017 scientific program alone, which will consist of about 180 sessions based on the day-by-day program that is now available, as well as from the anticipated 150 to 200 exhibitors, 15 or more lunchtime industry satellite symposia and all the related networking opportunities that the congress represents.
