LAHAINA, Hawaii — Ormonde M. Mahoney, MD, discussed the impact the use of robotics has had on total knee replacement. He said robotics has increased the precision of component placement, allows for more accurate preoperative planning and affords a better appreciation of the impact components have on soft tissue balance in the knee.

“The technology is really revolutionizing our ability to place knees and changing the operation dramatically both for surgeons and patients,” he said.  “So it is something I think we will really see having a great impact on certainly the knee arthroplasty community in the next decade.”
