LAHAINA, Hawaii — At Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2017, Robert D. D’Ambrosia, MD, spoke about prophylaxis for venous thromboembolic (VTE) disease and pulmonary embolism when performing total joint arthroplasty at higher altitudes.

“You have to be careful at higher altitudes. The higher up you are, I think the higher risk you have of having VTE complications,” he said.
