NASS announces winners of research grants and traveling fellowships

The North American Spine Society recently announced it has awarded $136,479 to the winners of its 2016 research and clinical traveling fellowships and research grants. The awards were based on scientific merit, significance of the project, approach and feasibility, according to a press release from the society.

Pallav Bhatia, MBBS, MS, of Mount Sinai Medical Center, Rush University and New York Presbyterian Hospital, won the 2016 Clinical Traveling Fellowship. Nicholas Van Halm Lutterodt, MD, of the Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California, was awarded the 2016 Research Traveling Fellowship. The 2016 Research Grant awards for clinical were given to Richard Skolasky, ScD; and Tomoko Tanaka, MD. Aaron J. Fields, PhD; and Shari Cui, MD, received the Young Investigator awards.

The NASS Research Project Management Committee and Research Council selected the winners. The winners were approved by the executive committee.
