The CORE Institute opens sports neurology clinic in Michigan

The CORE Institute recently announced the opening of The Sports Neurology Clinic at The CORE Institute in Brighton, Mich. The clinic is led by sports neurologist, Jeffrey Kutcher, MD.

“Our expansion into sports neurology is a natural complement to The CORE Institute’s expertise in orthopedic and sports medicine,” David Markel, MD, market president and orthopedic surgeon at The CORE Institute, said in the release. “Dr. Kutcher has earned a national reputation as a foremost expert in concussions and sports neurology and we could not be more thrilled that he will lead and grow our sports neurology program to ensure that The Sports Neurology Clinic and The CORE Institute prove best-in-class sports neurology, orthopedic and sports medicine services.”

According to the release, Kutcher is a team physician for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, director of the National Basketball League’s concussion program and also an advisor for the National Football League and National Hockey League Players’ Associations.

Kutcher also led the effort to create the sports neurology section of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and served as the first chairperson of the section. He is co-director of the annual AAN Sports Concussion Conference, according to the release.
