AOSpine North America announced it has elected Daniel Gelb, MD, as the organization’s new fellowship chair.

According to a press release, Gelb joined the AOSpine fellowship committee as chair elect on Sept. 1, 2016 and will officially begin his 3-year term as fellowship chair on Aug. 1, 2017.

Gelb is a professor of orthopedics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is co-director of the spine program at the University of Maryland Medical Center. According to the release, Gelb has developed new educational initiatives and was integral to the development of a new web-based curriculum for a minimally invasive course based on a “flipped classroom” model.
