EOS imaging announced an exclusive partnership with Anatoscope to combine Anatoscope’s virtual patient models with EOS 2-D/3-D images and to combine datasets into EOS applications for advanced orthopedic applications, according to a company press release.

The exclusive agreement and licensing rights reportedly include patient avatar development from EOS 2-D/3-D images and datasets, and deformation. According to the release, the model will initially focus on patient corpulence and external body shape combined with patients’ skeletal images taken at their EOS exams.

“Introducing a virtual patient model in our advanced 3-D orthopedic applications will assist surgeons as they plan their patient’s spine treatments,” Maria Meynadier, chief executive officer of EOS imaging, said in the release. “The Anatoscope agreement complements the ongoing internal developments with our partner Spinologics to bring our EOSapps the most cost-effective and relevant solutions to image-based planning, simulation and control of orthopedic therapies.”

According to the release, the first applications will be introduced into the EOS platform in 2017.
