Stryker Performance Solutions announced the launch of its Episode Performance Manager, a tool to help health care providers reduce costs and increase patient satisfaction 90 days after discharge following joint replacement surgery.

According to a company press release, the Episode Performance Manager translates claims data from CMS into reports for decision makers to better understand cost-drivers, to determine opportunities for improvement and to compare the performance of hospitals participating in Medicare’s Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model.

“Success in the evolving alternative payment landscape hinges on the ability to not only understand Medicare claims data, but also to derive value from that data, by using it to inform and implement improvement strategies for the joint episode of care,” Stuart Simpson, vice president and general manager of Stryker’s Reconstructive Division, said in the release. “Now that providers are held accountable for the cost of care throughout the entire episode, analytics must also provide increased visibility into post-discharge patterns and effectiveness.”

According to the release, access to the Episode Performance Manager will be available for hospitals that partner with Stryker Performance Solutions starting July 25, 2016.
