Safe Orthopaedics announced the first procedures performed with its new SteriSpineCC range for cervical vertebrae surgeries were successful, according to a company release.

The SteriSpineCC kit features sterile instrumentation pre-mounted on the implant which reportedly shortens surgery time and reduces the surgery costs. According to the release, the single-use device improves patient safety, while ensuring availability.

“The launch of SteriSpineCC represents another milestone in our expansion and in the execution of Safe Orthopaedics’ mission,” Pierre Dumouchel, interim chief executive officer of Safe Orthopaedics, said in the release. “We want to provide a solution facilitating the treatment of degenerative cervical conditions by delivering the combined benefits of a stable anatomical implant with our single-use instruments. This type of cervical surgery needs to be reliable, effective and rapid so that it can guarantee the best possible clinical outcome. This type of surgery opens the door to fast-track and outpatient surgery.”

According to the release, the SteriSpineCC kit is expected to launch during the third quarter of 2016 in all territories with Safe Orthopaedics coverage.
