DonJoy Performance recently announced the product introduction of its Protection On Demand ankle brace that features patient-pending technology and is designed to engage when necessary to resist ankle roll and other ankle injuries.

According to a company press release, the Protection on Demand (POD) ankle brace is intended to protect athletes’ ankles. Traditionally, taping has been used for ankle protection; however, POD reportedly allows athletes to move more freely. It provides adjustability and stability while allowing athletes to improve their footwork and speed. The ankle brace is reportedly 30% lighter than other ankle braces and can be used to support a weak ankle or worn on both ankles to reduce injuries. According to the release, the POD technology allows the body to move naturally and only engages when the ankles enter an “at risk” position.

“DonJoy Performance is committed to helping athletes stay healthy and injury-free so they can keep playing the sports they love,” Charlie Setzler, general manager of DonJoy Performance, said in the release. “Through use of the POD ankle brace, athletes who participate in sports like soccer, lacrosse, football and basketball can play with confidence, limiting the worry of turning or rolling their ankles from aggressive moves.”
