New this year will be the launch of EFORTnet, the orthopaedic and traumatology platform that fosters knowledge-sharing and capacity-building. Training and science are increasingly delivered through the Internet, hence the decision to create one major channel to access knowledge. While congresses and courses remain the primary ways to teach and learn, online approaches further the harmonization of training throughout Europe by reaching beyond geographical boundaries.
Through EFORTnet, each member of the orthopaedic and traumatology community will be able share knowledge and build their network of excellence. EFORTnet offers a unique and innovative federated search function that covers only professional and dedicated sources of information. The platform also has a series of innovative, interactive and knowledge-sharing focus features. With individual communication and networking tools such as personal walls, contact searches and direct messaging between members, EFORTnet strives to become the point of reference and the community platform of preference on orthopaedics. EFORTnet will be launched in different phases over the next two years. Phase one – the official launch – will kick off at the 14th EFORT Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, from 5 – 8 June 2013.
