15th EFORT Congress
The 15th EFORT Congress was held in London from 4 to 6 June 2014 organized jointly with the British Orthopaedic Association. In all, 7,400 participants were registered with more than 240 sessions to choose from. Over 4,400 abstracts were submitted, and 2,465 abstracts were accepted. The congress defined patient safety as its overarching theme with a series of specific sessions on the topic held during the meeting.
Besides the EFORT Honorary Lectures named for Erwin Morscher and Michael Freeman, given respectively by Professor Pietro Ruggieri (“Progresses Of Musculoskeletal Oncology In The Last Decades And Future Perspectives”) and Stuart Weinstein (“The Evidence Base For Pediatric Orthopaedics”), the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) held the King James IV Lecture which was given by Professor Hamish Simpson of Edinburgh.
Unique to this meeting was the incorporation of the scientific program of the BOA and its plenary lectures, which were open to all participants.
“What’s New In US Orthopaedics?” was the guest nation session this year presented by our colleagues at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, which enriched further the scientific program.
The new comprehensive EFORT Textbook European Surgical Orthopaedics and Traumatology was launched during the congress. This reference textbook serves as a source of education and guidance in surgical practice for established surgeons and trainees. It is especially beneficial for those preparing for post-graduate surgical examinations and the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology examinations.
We thank all the participants, faculty members and exhibitors for their participation!
We look forward to welcoming you at the 16th EFORT Congress in Prague that will take place 27 to 29 May 2015. Follow the news: #EFORT2015
