Moximed announces presentation of results for new unloading device for knee OA

Moximed Inc. recently announced several presentations were given at the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy Congress in Barcelona that introduced the first clinical data for the company’s Atlas System, which is a system for knee joint unloading that is CE marked in Europe.

According to a press release, the data revealed patients with the Atlas System experienced pain relief and regained their knee range of motion. In addition, patients returned to normal activity levels within several weeks of treatment with the unicompartmental device.

One study, by Konrad Slynarski, MD, PhD, and colleagues, in which 18 patients with early osteoarthritis (OA) were enrolled, showed statically significant improvement in WOMAC scores from baseline through 6-month follow-up.

A biomechanical study about the device presented at the meeting by Chrisoph Becher, MD, showed the 13 kg of unloading the extra-capsular device achieves can reduce peak contact pressure in vitro by up to 30%, according to the press release.
