Xtant Medical Holdings Inc. announced its subsidiary, X-spine Systems, has received FDA clearance for the Xspan Laminoplasty Fixation System.

According to a press release from the company, the Xspan system is indicated for use in the lower cervical and upper thoracic spine (C3 to T3).

“We are pleased to have received clearance for the Xspan,” David Kirschman, MD, chief security officer, executive vice president and director of Xtant Medical, said in the release. “This system will allow Xtant Medical to further differentiate itself from the competition and will better serve the growing needs of our surgeon partners.”

Xspan will be available to a limited number of key surgeons in the second quarter of 2016 and a general release is anticipated for later in the year, according to the release.
