Extremity Medical receives 510(k) clearance for ankle plating system

Extremity Medical LLC. announced it has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA to market the Align Ankle Fusion System. The Align Ankle Fusion system was developed to facilitate ankle arthrodesis, according to a company press release.

“Despite the growth seen over the last several years in the total ankle arthroplasty market, the rate of ankle arthrodesis has not slowed down at all,” Matt Lyons, chairman and chief executive officer of Extremity Medical, said in the release. “Extremity Medical believes that the Align Ankle Fusion System will offer significant advantages in both biomechanical and OR efficiencies as compared to the currently available ankle plating systems”

According to the release, the initial release for the Align Ankle Fusion System is scheduled as mid-April 2016.
