VIDEO: Depression, substance abuse likely affects outcomes after hip and knee replacement

ORLANDO, Fla. — At the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, James D. Slover, MD, discussed a study which looked at the impact depression and substance abuse had on outcomes after hip and knee replacement. He said patients with depression had a 20% to 25% increased chance of readmission after surgery.
