Materialise NV recently announced the launch of the Materialise Mimics Care Suite, a full suite of software and solutions for 3-D printing in hospitals.

According to a company press release, the suite is an open and flexible platform that includes planning and design software tools, 3-D printed anatomical models and surgical guides, and patient-specific implants. The suite also introduces the Materialise Mimics inPrint, new software that reportedly enables surgeons to create medical models for 3-D printing in hospitals. The software enables them to do so without the need for advanced clinical engineering support, according to the release.

“For more than 25 years, we at Materialise have been identifying meaningful applications of 3-D printing and developing the backbone of software and solutions needed to successfully bring them to market. We see incredible potential for 3-D printing in hospitals, but have also recognized that many existing solutions have slowed adoption of the technology. Therefore, we have developed the Materialise Mimics Care Suite with the aim of helping hospitals better integrate 3-D printing and begin unleashing the benefits it offers, which include potential cost savings and patient care improvement,” Wilfried Vancraen, Materialise founder and chief executive officer, said in the release.

The new suite brings together medical software and services into a single, neutral platform that facilitates the integration of 3-D planning and printing into hospitals, according to the company.
