AlloSource announced the launch of its ProChondrix Cartilage Restoration Matrix, a cellular 3-D fresh cartilage allograft.

According to the company press release, the ProChondrix was designed to match the biomechanical and biochemical properties of normal hyaline cartilage, restore the cartilage surface, improve function and provide pain relief to patients.

“One of the most important ways we honor tissue donors is through our commitment to innovation,” Thomas Cycyota, AlloSource president and chief executive officer, said in the release. “ProChondrix provides the opportunity to both maximize the donor's gift, while also helping recipients get their mobility back.”

ProChondrix reportedly provides an extracellular matrix to help support structures for cellular migration and adhesion, and preserves growth factors. It also contains viable chondrocytes that aid in cartilage repair, according to the release.
