What should be approached first in childhood cerebral palsy: The hip or spine?

Dr. Freeman Miller is a specialist in pediatric orthopaedics and is focused on the care of children with physical disabilities due to brain abnormalities. He is co-director of the cerebral palsy program and medical director of the Gait Analysis Laboratory at the AI duPont Institute in Wilmington, Del., USA.

During the 16th EFORT Congress held in Prague in 2015, Dr. Miller gave his point of view concerning whether it is best to treat the hip or spine first in cases of childhood cerebral palsy in a presentation entitled, “Correct the spine first followed by hip reduction,” which is available on EFORT e-Science.
