VIDEO: Higher volume hospitals have more favorable payer mix
ORLANDO, Fla. – At the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, Joseph A. Bosco III, MD, of NYU Langone Medical Center, spoke about a study which used a New York state database to analyze the effect of payer mix on individual hospitals’ total joint volume during a 13-year period. He said higher volume hospitals were found to have a more favorable payer mix and this inequity widened during the study period.
