In all, 3,912 abstracts were submitted for the 16th EFORT Congress in Prague which took place 27–29 May 2015. Of those, 1,816 abstracts were accepted as free papers and posters, and out of those the best ones were awarded.

The three best free papers were Philippe Hernigou from France (gold), Martijn Te Stroet from the Netherlands (silver) and Deepak Bushan Raina from India (bronze).

The Jaques Duparc Award for the ten best posters were given to:

  • Rajpal Singh Nandra, United Kingdom
  • Chang-Wug Oh, Republic of Korea
  • James Waddell, Canada
  • Nattapol Tammachote, Thailand
  • Rahel Bornemann, Germany
  • Bartolome Luis Allende, Argentina
  • Marta Cuenca Llavall, Spain
  • Lukasz Lapaj, Poland
  • Joon-Woo Kim, Republic of Korea
  • Saggah Tarekt Shalabi, United Kingdom

Each year, EFORT also presents the Allied Professions Award, which this year went to Charlotte Troldborg, from Denmark.

The Trauma Award for the best trauma paper went to Nikolaos A. Stavropoulos from the United States.

During the official Opening Session, the Industry Awards were presented to DePuy Synthes for their loyal support of the EFORT Training Programme and to Lima Corporate for their support to the EFORT Annual Congress.

Also during the Opening Session, Fady Sedra from the United Kingdom was awarded with the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EBOT) Award which is given to the candidate with the highest score on last year’s EBOT Examination.
