Discomfort at medial quadriceps tendon-femoral ligament attachment not usually a problem

This is my response to a comment on my recent blog on the medial quadriceps tendon-femoral ligament that appeared in the June issue of Orthopaedics Today Europe.
In our experience of more than 100 medial quadriceps tendon-femoral ligament (MQTFL) reconstructions, I am aware of discomfort at the quadriceps attachment site in only one patient. This is not a significant problem in anatomic reconstruction of the MQTFL. Not one patient has required surgical intervention for this, and the incidence is less than 1% with accurate graft placement and tensioning. Most important is the incidence of patella fracture after MQTFL reconstruction is 0%.
