Interventional Spine Inc. recently announced FDA clearance of its next generation Opticage expandable interbody fusion device.

The new system is an enhanced version of the original Opticage system that was introduced in 2012, according to a press release. The next generation system reportedly features a streamlined profile compared with the previous implant, has an improved ability to deliver graft material after expansion and has improved ergonomics. In addition, the new design will have all of the features of the first-generation Opticage, including its adjustable and reversible height, graft contact and containment.

Interventional Spine Inc. plans to offer several common sizes of the new design in sterile packages. According to the release, the company plans to begin shipping the new Opticage in January.
