NASS announces 2015 winners of research grants and traveling fellowships

The North American Spine Society recently announced $149,999 in research grants and traveling fellowships at its annual meeting.

The North American Spine Society (NASS) has funded more than $3.5 million in grants since 1989 for spine-related research. The latest grants and fellowships were awarded based on scientific merit, significance of the project, approach and feasibility, according to a press release from the society.

The society announced Gaurav Raj Dhakal, MBBS, MS, of Washington University Medical Center, Icahn School of Medicine Mount Sinai and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, won the 2015 Clinical Traveling Fellowship. Narihito Nagoshi, MD, PhD, of the University of Toronto, was awarded the 2015 Research Traveling Fellowship. Zina Trost, PhD, Helen E. Gruber, PhD, and Juliane Glaeser, PhD, each won 2015 Research Grant awards, according to NASS.

The winners were selected by the NASS Research Project Management Committee and Research Council. The winners were approved by the executive committee.
