The North American Spine Society introduced a new resource to guide spine surgeons regarding common spine treatments.

The eBook — NASS Coverage Policy Recommendations — is free to North American Spine Society (NASS) members and non-members can purchase it. It will help spine specialists access and apply coverage recommendations more quickly in their research and collaborations, Christopher M. Bono, MD, NASS first vice president and NASS coverage committee chair, noted in a press release.

“This essential eBook of evidence-based recommendations will help them navigate this system and get their patients the care they need to quickly get back to enjoying active, productive lives,” Bono stated.

The publication is a 100-plus page online, searchable book that includes the 17 current NASS coverage recommendations, as well as citations, active links to published research and interactive elements, such as video, according to the release.

The book includes recommendations for cervical artificial disc replacement, cervical fusion, cervical laminoplasty, endoscopic discectomy and cervical epidural injections.

Among the topics that are expected to be included when the book is updated are thoracic and thoracolumbar fusion, acupuncture, advanced imaging, facet joint blocks and cervical and lumbar radiofrequency neurotomy.

The online book will be demonstrated at the NASS Resource Center at the NASS Annual Meeting Oct. 14 to 17, in Chicago.
